We’re pleased to announce our Spring Cocktail lineup.  Upstate Vodka worked with Ginn Choe @ginndoll mixologist at Chapel Bar @Fotografiska NYC to create these extraordinary cocktails.  Give these latest recipes a try and let us know which is your favorite.

Mexican Espresso Martini

Everybody loves an Espresso Martini but this one spices it up a bit- literally- with some chili liqueur so you get a triple kick in 1 glass.

  • 0.25 Oz Simple Syrup (2:1)
  • 0.5 Oz Mr. Black or other coffee liqueur
  • 0.5 Oz Ancho Reyes chili liqueur
  • 1.0 Oz espresso or concentrated cold brew
  • 1.5 Oz Upstate Vodka

Method:

Long shake 20 seconds & double strain into sour coupe glass

Garnish: 3 coffee or espresso beans

Butterfly Peacock

While this may seem a bit more ambitious it is really an easy cocktail that is gorgeous and surprising.  Anyone can make simple syrup, so the pea flower syrup isn’t difficult and all of the unusual ingredients are easily found on Amazon or at your local specialty store.

  • Barspoon of Orgeat
  • 0.5 butterfly pea flower simple syrup (2:1)
  • 1 Oz Upstate Vodka
  • 0.25 Oz lemon juice
  • 0.25 Honey syrup (3:1)
  • 0.5 St. Germain elderflower liquor

Method:

For the butterfly pea flower syrup: using boiling water, create a 2:1 simple syrup by taking 8 oz of boiling water to 16 oz sugar. Once off the heat, steep the hot 2:1 simple syrup with 12-15 dried butterfly pea flowers and steep for 20 minutes. Strain the flowers and let the syrup cool before use.

Build the orgeat, butterfly pea flower simple syrup, and Upstate Vodka in a shaker, 10 second shake & double strain into Collins glass with ice, add a splash of soda but leave wash line 1 inch lower from the rim of glass to create room for the contents in the shot glass.

Build in a separate shot glass the lemon juice, honey syrup, and elderflower liquor. Pour the shot into the Collins glass after serving, stir and enjoy the color changing show.

Garnish: Expressed lemon twist.

War of Roses

This recipe is a crowd pleaser at any time of year, but it is especially fun during the warmer months when topped with a lemon rose garnish.  To make a rose garnish simply make a long peel of lemon with a potato peeler – the longer the better- and then tightly roll it up and spear it with a cocktail stick.

  • 2 dashes rose water
  • 0.5 oz lemon juice
  • 0.5 Oz simple syrup (2:1)
  • 1.5 Oz strawberry purée
  • 1.5 Oz Upstate Vodka

Method:

Shake 10 seconds & double strain into Collins glass with ice, top with soda and stir 2x with barspoon.

Garnish:  Lemon rose for the inspired or expressed lemon twist.
